The Vice-President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar today lauded the many contributions of late Shri Arun Jaitley, describing him as a public servant rather than a politician. He was not in politics; he was in public life”, he remarked.

Recounting many contributions of Jaitley Ji, the Vice-President praised his ability to keep politics out of sports. Highlighting his profound contribution to sports, VP underlined that even after being associated with cricket for a long time, Jaitley Ji kept politics out of it.

Addressing the gathering at the renaming of multi-purpose stadium in the name Late Arun Jaitley ji at SRCC College of University of Delhi, Shri Dhankhar poignantly recalled his long association with Shri Jaitley as an advocate and parliamentarian, and remarked “we miss him day in day out.”

Referring to Shri Jaitley ji as the most illustrious alumni of SRCC, VP urged all alumni to come together and contribute time & resources for their alma mater.

Lauding the transformative shift towards transparent and accountable governance in the country, Shri Dhankhar expressed that Bharat is in upbeat mood and we’ll be the world’s third largest economy in the coming few years.

He emphasised that corruption no longer reaps rewards, as he reflected earlier times when it was the sole password for jobs and opportunities. He further underscored that in the present scenario, corruption leads to a different destination, not for employment or opportunities.

Expressing the need for a supportive ecosystem marked by equality before the law, Shri Dhankhar stated that the privileged pedigree in the country has been demolished, fostering an environment where all are equal and this has provided a big moral boost to the youth.

Highlighting the new norm in society where everyone is accountable to the law, VP stated that the people who entertained the idea that they are above the law and the law cannot reach them, are now being held accountable to the law of land just like anyone else.

Describing the youth as the most vital stakeholders in governance and shaping the nation’s future, The Vice President called upon the youth to come out of the silos and traditional approach and embrace disruptive technology that has the capacity to satisfy everyone's aspirations.

He further expressed deep concern over the reflection of anti-national narratives finding space into legislatures and called for a collective effort to neutralize it by all.

Emphasising the need for embracing economic nationalism, Shri Dhankhar highlighted the detrimental impact of cheap import of day to day items on the nation's foreign exchange, lost job opportunities for our youth, and the hindrance to their entrepreneurial growth. He appealed to the corporates, industry, trade and commerce associations to subscribe to economic nationalism to make the lives of our youth better.
