1. The Vice President serves as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha (Council of States) and presides over its proceedings, ensuring orderly conduct of business. Through parliamentary leadership and public engagement, the Vice President contributes to legislative functioning and national discourse.
2. The Vice President often represents India at national ceremonies, official functions, and international events.
3. The Vice President serves in ex officio capacities such as:
   • President of the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA)
   • President of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA)
   • Chancellor of institutions such as the University of Delhi, Panjab University and Pondicherry University.
