I would like to congratulate the Editor, Shri Rajiv Suman and "The Marginalized Publication" for the publication of current edition of the book - series which provides an excellent introduction to the life and contribution of Indian political leaders.
This book has a special importance of its own. In the present time it is imperative for any ideal democracy to have such books published which would bring forth the profile and ideology of the political leaders to the society.
The said book is about the active political leader and social activist of Maharashtra, Shri Ramdas Athawale. Athawale ji has been an active participant of movements like 'Panther' and 'Namantar'. I am happy that this edition has been dedicated to him. I was pleased to see that Rajiv Ji has elucidated the significance of democracy in the preface of the book.
Athawale Ji has emerged as a frontrunner and a vocal leader for the emancipation of dalits in the modern society. His thought of social equality is admirable. His objective is the development of entire humanity rather than a particular caste because democracy not allow any kind of discrimination.
It is pertinent to stand against any kind of inequality in the society. The subject matter contained in the interview of Athawale Ji, which is a part of the book, is very significant especially his policy of peaceful protest and campaign strengthens democracy.
The said book enlivens the political upheaval during the decades of 80's and 90's. Another thought of Athawale Ji that strikes a chord is that the policy and ideology of any party may differ but after joining the Government their policy should be a policy of the government and policy of the constitution. I am happy that Athawale Ji strongly supports the current policy of overall development of the country.
There is no doubt that he has a very liberal view regarding the rights of women. According to him the need of the hour is that there should be an extension of parliament and in any way, the women of our country should be adequately represented. I hope that your positive ideology will come true in future.
Athawale Ji's concept of nationalization of education is very progressive. There is no doubt that government should take required steps towards providing equal education and equal opportunities of education to all.
Speeches delivered by Athawale Ji and may social issues raised by him have been described extensively in the book. He has raised various issues for upliftment of backward classes in Maharashtra and the entire country. Apart from that he has also brought to light the different incidents of corruption from time to time. He has also raised voice against the unfair incidents of religious dominance.
It is a beautiful thing that keeping in mind the pitiable pathetic condition of a few higher castes, by virtue of their being in minority in modern society, he has stressed on providing them reservation on the basis of their population.
It is a good thing that Athawale Ji raises the problems of farmers in this agricultural country and supports the actual development of the country.
According to Athawale Ji's policy government should pay attention to the problems of de-notified and nomadic tribes. Their contribution to the culture of India is really incomparable. By protecting them, the culture of our country can be asserted to have been secured completely.
I am happy that Athwale Ji is highly vigilant towards the various malepractices prevalent in the country and he is working in the right direction towards the welfare of the society. May Almighty grant him success in his generous and good deeds. May he always remain active in public service and be enthusiastic about it.
I specially congratulate Rajiv Ji for the publication of this exclusive book.
