Womens Empowerment can ensure making of new India United effort of Government and Society is required for womens development: Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President of India.
The Making of new India is possible with the empowerment and development of women. To achieve this, Government and society will have to make meaningful efforts together. This statement was made today by the Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu at a State Level Training-cum-conference of Women's Self Help Groups held at Bhopal. Shri Naidu said that women must get equal rights with men in family property. He said that the talents of women must be recognized and given a new direction. At the same time, they will have to be provided with appropriate training. He said that for development and empowerment of women, providing appropriate reservation for women to ensure availability of opportunities by rising above the partisan politics is need of the hour. Dissemination of education amongst women and their financial empowerment is necessary. Educating a woman ensures education of her whole family. Shri Naidu while recalling the early days of women's reservation in Panchayats said that women had proved their leadership capability brushing all the apprehensions aside. They need to be given more encouragement and opportunities.
Shri Naidu said that respecting women and treating them with dignity has been the cardinal principal of Indian thought process. And they have amply shown their credibility, relevance, capability and prowess in every field since ancient times being a part of the society. Regarding the utility of SHGs, the Vice President added that the SHGs which are emerging as the symbol of strength power of organization are playing an important role in making women self-reliant. He said that given a chance, women are capable to contribute fully in making of new India. He urged that the women should be aware and move forward and use their full capability to contribute in transformation of their family, society and country.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan while talking about the change being brought about towards the empowerment of women through women SHGs in the State said that the products made by the women Self Help Groups give a tough competition to the products of Multi National Companies in terms of quality. He said that the schemes dedicated at the empowerment of women and daughters are given priority in Madhya Pradesh as envisaged the Prime Minister. Shri Chauhan said that due to the efforts of SHGs of the State the development and change can clearly be seen even in the backward and tribal regions of the State. Chief Minister announced that the school uniforms distributed among the school students shall also be got stitched through these self help groups. Many ministers of Madhya Pradesh government, public representatives and large number of members of self help groups from various regions of the State were present in this program.
